This hand-harvested Kauri Incense Resin has been a labour of love and there are only going to be a few available due to it’s rareity. I’ve been collecting bits and pieces from all my nature walks. It is imbued with joy, love and intention whilst it’s been sustainably harvested ensuring no damage to the trees, only the treasures that have fallen onto the ground are collected.
This incense is to be placed on a hot charcoal. It has been broken down into pieces that can be placed on coals inside of any safe chalice/copalera or bhakoor burner.
Kauri is the king of the forrest. This resin imbues its strength, protection through anti-fungal, anti-microbial properties- mirroring this is its propensity to drop dead weight (shed bark) so that it’s not being held back by decomposing matter from other plants. This is a reminder to shed the dead weight in our lives and not carry that which is not ours or let others processes hinder us from growing to our heights.
This organic Kauri Resin (Kāpia) is from New Zealand’s Agathis australis. Known as "New Zealand Amber," this resin is the solidified life force of ancient giants, exuded over centuries to protect and heal the tree. In the tradition of "As Above, So Below," we recognise that as this resin seals and safeguards the towering Kauri. Its smoke serves to seal and protect our own physical and energetic field. Kauri resin is an anti-inflammatory aid for the human respiratory system and skin.
The ritual of smoke cleansing with charcoal:
Unlike modern incense sticks with lots of fillers- raw Kauri resin is best experienced through the ancient method of charcoal burning, creating an extremely pure medicinal smoke in which to clear your field or your home/event space.
The Burning Method: Light a natural charcoal disk until it glows grey, then using tongs- place a small piece of resin or a pinch of powder directly into the centre.
Cleanse Your Energy: As the thick smoke rises, draw it toward your body using a hand, feather or wing. This "smoke bathing" is a grounded ritual of purification—using the physical element of air to clear the stagnation of the mind and protect the biofield of the body. Smoke is believed to be a bridge between the seen and unseen realms as it is visible but not a solid.
